The Harmonic convergence.

After I received confirmation from Melanie that her design for the Garden had been approved by the RHS, then I had to work out who I was going to get into help me make this huge Bat. I had been given some names of potential candidates but I held off for some unknown reason contacting them.

Then out of the blue I got a call from my old friend Ben. Ben is like a friendly Giant very strong and incredibly attuned to the trees he works with. So he called and said I have loads of wood come and choose some for your Bat.

I knew Ben would not only be of help, but he really knew his stuff around wood. Ben runs Ben Harmon Tree Surgery. Plus he is in the process of building a beautiful home from wood in a stunning location in the Weald. So I went to see him. Ben showed me the wood he thought was best which was American Cedar. I was so relieved to have found the wood but I still needed the right team. I had my friend Edd an absolute legend that has helped and supported me throughout the process but I needed a carver to help due to the size.

Ben turned to me and said let me help you make her. I have tools, plus heavy plant machinery. I was blown away he offered for me to carve it there too. It was like a beautiful dream. So of course I said yes and the journey began. I would never have been able to carve the Bat without all Bens help he is a like the Friendly Giant in stories of old that will stand in the centre of a river and lift you across very calmly as if nothing happened.

He is such a good soul. Ben also creates amazing huge tables and all kinds of cutting slabs for food and many other large scale items from wood. I will provide links to his Website and his IG account below for you to go and checkout all the phenomenal work he has created.
