Tach Pollard is a self taught Wood Sculptor, who grew up and started carving in the Sussex Weald. Most of his childhood was spent in and around the predominantly oak woodlands where he started to form a deep love of the ancient woodlands.
In his early twenties he found himself carving oak roots. With help from the Princes Trust around the beginning of the 2000’s, he carried on carving, honing his craft at this time.
Carving mostly larger works in oak root, using the organic flowing shapes to guide his inspiration. Around 2006 he moved up to Buckinghamshire. Here he was drawn to carving hawthorn wood.
After a chance meeting with a friend the mystical nature of hawthorn wood was revealed and the journey of carving liminal creatures was born.
In the last few years with the help of his good friend and mentor Yasha Young from Yasha Young Projects his path and art has expanded and moved into new directions.
