A Piece of Her Beginning
Tach is giving away his first Maquette of Black Amber — anyone reading this can enter below.
This maquette was Tach's smaller model to which he then based his larger sculpture now standing in the Bat Conservation Society garden at the Chelsea Flower Show 2026. The garden designed by Melanie Hicks is called 'The Nocturnal Garden' and has Black Amber as the centre piece.
The maquette was created for the final RHS judging panel before Chelsea Flower Show.
Black Amber is carved from hawthorn wood, burnished black and highlighted with gold leaf.

After the judging, Tach took Black Amber to Cornwall to walk the fairy path and ask for blessings among ancient stones and megaliths.
She stood in places older than memory — a creature born of hawthorn and gold leaf, returned to the land that shaped her.
She is a piece of Tach's heart.
